The ACV-15 was developed by the Turkish defense industry for the Turkish army in 1992.
The ACV-15 was once the pride of the Turkish army. This is one of the country’s most successful armored vehicles. In addition to Turkey, this armored vehicle line also appears in the payroll of countries including: Jordan, Malaysia, Philippines, Syria, United Arab Emirates, and Libya. The ACV-15 was developed by the Turkish defense industry for the Turkish army in 1992. Based on the American M113A1 platform, the ACV-15 is better evaluated with a spacious troop compartment as well as better armor protection. The vehicle has an overall weight of about 14 tons, length is 5.26 m, width is 2.83 m and height is 2.88 m. Its crew consisted of 3 soldiers: commander, gunner and driver.
The vehicle’s basic platform features a single-person powered turret armed with a 25mm cannon and 7.62mm co-axial machine gun. The latest development which has an additional roadwheel each side. This can undertake a wider range of battlefield missions as it has greater internal volume and load-carrying capability. Standard equipment includes passive night vision equipment, an NBC protection system and smoke grenade launchers. The ACV-15 can be fitted with a number of turret choices to tailor to individual customer requirements. They are also equipped with firing ports, which allows infantrymen to fire their ᴡᴇᴀᴘᴏɴs from within the vehicle.
In 2020, a new program led by the Turkish Company Aselsan in collaboration with FNSS has been launched to upgrade the ACV-15 AFV tracked Armored Fighting Vehicles of the Turkish armed forces. The new vehicle will also be fitted with a new NEFER unmanned Remote Wҽαρσɳ Station designed and manufactured by ASELSAN which is armed with one 25mm automatic cannon and a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun. The new turret has an advanced fire control capability with the help of its onboard computerized fire control and its two-axis stabilized independent sight system.
Standard equipment of the new turret also includes a day and night imaging system, laser range finder, automatic target tracking, and automatic ballistic calculation systems. The turret provides ballistic protection Level 2 STANAG 4569. According to the contract, deliveries will be made between 2021-2023. This modernization package will increase the performance and prolong the life of these combat vehicles, making them better able to serve the rest of the time.
